global energy 2018 2The names of new laureates of an international award - The Global Energy Prize – will be announced in TASS press center on June 7, 2018. The award annually acknowledges breakthrough achievements in the energy field, which help humanity to solve the most serious energy issues.

During the solemn ceremony which will be held in the framework of the Russian Energy Week International Forum, the new laureates will receive golden medals, diplomas, honorary lapel badges and will share RUB 39 000 000 (approximately $ 700 000).

The Global Energy Prize International Award Committee will determine the laureates in the beginning of June. At the moment the Committee consists of 20 outstanding scientists from 13 countries, led by the Nobel Prize winner Rodney John Allam from the UK. The famous scientist will sum up the results of the XVI nomination cycle. As a recall, 44 laureates representing 14 countries compete for the title of laureate in the current year.

Traditionally the 2018 laureates will get the great news during the event when the Global Energy Prize officials will congratulate them via a conference call. Journalists will get the chance to not only hear the first reactions of the winners, but also ask them interesting questions.

Further, the Director-General of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the Global Energy Prize International Award Committee member, Adnan Amin, will make an assessment of energy sources development prospects and the Global Energy Prize laureates’ role in advanced energy technologies development.

It worth noting that Alexander Shokhin, the Board of Trustees of the Global Energy Association Chairman, RSPP President, the CEOs of the Association member companies – Andrey Murov, PJSC FGS UES Chairman, Alexey Miller, PJSC Gazprom Chairman of the Board and Vladimir Bogdanov, OJSC Surgutneftegas CEO, are also invited to attend the press conference.
