bonn climate change conference2017An important event on climate change science will be held on 10 May at the UN Climate Change Conference in Bonn. This year’s annual meeting of the “Research Dialogue” will focus on regional climate information and gaps, as well as on science to take stock of and assess progress on mitigation.

The Dialogue will be kicked off by a poster session, followed by key-note presentations by Mr. Chris Rapley, professor of climate science at University College London in the United Kingdom and Mr. David Carlson of the World Climate Research Programme (WCRP).
The Paris Agreement recognizes the need for an effective and progressive response to the urgent threat of climate change on the basis of the best available scientific knowledge.
In that respect, the dialogue is especially important, given the need for regional information to support adaptation. Further, it is important in the context of the 2018 initial stock-take, that will focus on the pathway towards low greenhouse gas emissions and climate-resilient development.
